As people get more interested in using cannabis products, they will find that a number of sellers offer lab results in order to show the different aspects of their products. However, it can be a little confusing at first to know how to read it. Luckily, there are a few tips to follow that can help with deciphering the information. This is important so that they can show you how much you can trust the product at least in regards to the ingredients.

What is a COA?

For those unfamiliar with the term, a COA, or a certificate of analysis, is a verified document that provides details about different aspects of the products. These aspects include details about the testing lab, the brand and product in question, and the potency of the ingredients of the product. For those ingredients, they include cannabinoids like THC, CBD, CBG, and CBN. These certificates can also include terpenes.

In order to find these certificates of analysis, customers will find QR codes pasted on the product containers. These QR codes will show the printouts of the COA.

How to Read a COA

The header is the first part to read through and it gives the general information of the product. It describes the report date, the name of the lab that performed the testing, the brand of the company, product description, and the QR code.

Next, customers will need to read the results of the products. They will show the testing of the potency, which shows how much of the cannabinoids and terpenes are present in the product. The certificate will also state the safety test results. This part shows the amounts of potentially harmful chemicals found in the product. These can include residual solvents, heavy metals, mycotoxins, pesticides, filth/foreign material, and microbiology. Obviously, this part should have as small a number as possible and typically it has a “passed” or “failed” note to clarify it.

Finally, the COA will have a footer that legitimizes the details of the COA. It typically has the signatures of the testers involved. The footer also contains the license number of the lab in order to be compliant.

Read and Learn

Newcomers will need to get used to looking at COAs until they come to find the types of products that they both trust and regularly want to purchase. Luckily, after understanding it the first time, doing it again later will be pretty easy to accomplish.

In order to find a seller that offers plenty of these types of lab test results, then visit 3Chi where not only are there plenty of products available for purchase, but also plenty of test results to go along with them.
